New Hampshire Science and Engineering Exposition (NHSEE)

EXPECTATIONS

NHSEE Judges evaluating the middle school event do not need to have prior experience in a STEM field; however, it is beneficial to have a working knowledge of the scientific method and/or engineering design process to understand the steps students took to do their projects.  Judges should ask simple questions to gain students' understanding of their project, using the criteria in the rubric as a roadmap.   Students at this grade level are just starting to be introduced to scientific/engineering concepts, and have not taken high school level coursework in the behavioral/social sciences, hard sciences or engineering.  In addition to evaluating projects, judges also serve as informal mentors, providing useful feedback, advice, and encouragement to all students.
